My Yin Journey: From crow pose to deep stillness

I was first introduced to yoga as a child through my grandfather, my hero,  who could effortlessly drop into crow pose. About twenty years ago, I began practicing yoga more actively. My journey started with Hatha at Rama Saenen, my grandfather’s yoga school, how could it have been any different? From there, I moved into Vinyasa and Iyengar, and continued exploring with curiosity Kundalini Yoga, Aerial Yoga and somatic and restorative practices.

Five years ago, I fell deeply in love with Yin Yoga, and I haven’t looked back since. What fascinates me most is that it’s a practice that works physically through the fascia and connective tissue, while at the same time moving through emotional and mental layers via the meridians and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Also you can seamlessly blend it with so many beautiful other nurturing practices like myofascial release, tapping, gentle mobility excercises, mindfull movements...It always calms my nervous system, makes me feel in touch and relax my body, restores balance. Loving it so much and willing to share  this beautiful practice I decided to take a 100 h YinYoga teacher training which I successfully completed and graduated from.

So yes, you’ll mostly find me lying down or seated on the mat.

¡Grounded, open, and fully in Yin mode!

Benefits of YinYoga

Yin yoga is a slow and meditative practice that focuses on deep stretching, stillness and inner awareness. Unlike more active or muscular (yang) forms of yoga, Yin targets the body’s connective tissues—such as fascia, ligaments and joints—by holding poses for longer periods, typically between three and five minutes.

Most postures are done seated or lying down, like butterfly, sleeping deer or sphinx, giving the body time to soften, melt and gradually open without force.

The practice encourages deep breathing, mindfulness and quiet presence, often leading to a sense of grounding and emotional release.

Rooted in Taoism and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yin also works with the meridian lines to support the flow of chi (life force energy), helping to restore physical, mental and energetic balance.

Over time, Yin yoga increases flexibility, improves circulation, enhances joint mobility and significantly reduces stress.

My approach

In 2025 I I completed the 100-hour YinYoga Teacher Training at ADM Yoga, Antwerp, blessed by the teachings of Tine  Sneyers & Laurenz Verkruysse.

Inspired by them and other teachers on the path I followed, I’ve developed my own approach to teaching. I see Yin as a versatile and therapeutic space that can take on different qualities depending on what the body and heart need. I offer various blends and focuses within my Yin sessions, such as:

• Yin for emotional and mental release

• Yin for physical release & body awareness

• Yin combined with myofascial release techniques (MFT)

• Yin to support mobility and range of motion

• Yin supporting Qi flow and balance (EFT, acupressure, Qi Gong)

Each session is an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and gently meet yourself.

One breath, one posture, one moment of stillness at a time.
